SPARX FAQ's

How stable is SPARX?
SPARX is very stable as it uses Grid Engine at the backend for submitting jobs. Also SPARX is backed by MySQL which provides the scalablity, reliability and the recoverability of an enterprise database.

Is SPARX flexible and customizable?
Yes SPARX is flexible – it has a Python API (Application Programming Interface).

Is there a scalability limit for SPARX?
SPARX has been used in production environments of up to 1000 machines, and also tested on ‘virtual’ machines, using a single Supervisor node. SPARX is deployed in India's First Super Computing Facility.

What are the applications SPARX supports?

SPARX can support any program that runs in Windows, Linux and MAC.

Does SPARX support "Frameslicing"?
Rendering a single frame / image using multiple machines for high-resolution is called "Frameslicing". SPARX supports this feature if the application supports it. For example, Maya does have the option for region renders which are supported in SPARX. Also, the render slices are finally combined and given back as a single image.

What platforms does SPARX work?
The SPARX Grid Engine runs on Windows, Linux and MAC. The SPARX UI is web-based so it can be accessed from anywhere to submit, monitor jobs.

Do you provide application integration for SPARX?
SPARX offers a unique and efficient level of application integration where the user when submitting a particular job of an application, the user will be able to change specific render settings of the file in the SPARX UI without invoking the 3D or 2D application. Also SPARX is available as plugin / script for MAYA so the user can submit the renders from within MAYA. We are subsequently integrating SPARX for all the other leading applications.

How does SPARX manage network bottle-neck of a renderfarm?
SPARX uses our properitary algorithm for despatching jobs to the renderfarm, which is designed for reducing the network hits from the renderfarm to the storage. In addition, SPARX is also available with our caching tool - FETCHER which caches the data on the computes nodes.
